November 10, 2021
WASHINGTON, November 10, 2021 — Airlines for America applauds Secretary Buttigieg’s announcement of the U.S. Aviation Climate Action Plan, reinforcing the Administration’s strong support for policies critical to the U.S. aviation sector achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, including rapidly expanding the availability of cost-competitive sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and strengthening the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA).
A4A and our member carriers are committed to working in a positive partnership across the aviation industry and with government leaders to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 through the advancement and deployment of cutting-edge technologies, operational improvements, modernized infrastructure and our goal of making 3 billion gallons of cost-competitive SAF available to U.S. aircraft operators in 2030.
Secretary Buttigieg said in remarks at the U.N. COP26 Climate Change Conference that aviation is “central to the fabric of our global economy and our global community,” and we wholeheartedly agree.
