WASHINGTON, March 11, 2020 — Airlines for America (A4A), the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, today announced that Rebecca Spicer, A4A Senior Vice President for Communications, has been named to PRWeek’s 2020 Hall of Femme class. The Hall of Femme celebrates women who are “leaders in the communications industry who challenge the status quo, move the needle in business and strive to make a difference.”
“Rebecca’s commitment to her career, her volunteer work and her efforts to mentor young women make her a natural pick for this award,” said Nicholas E. Calio, President and CEO of A4A. “We are incredibly proud that PRWeek is recognizing Rebecca for her inspiring work as a communicator and all she does to make a difference in the community.”
Prior to joining A4A in 2018, Ms. Spicer led the communications team at the National Beer Wholesalers Association where she was honored by PRWeek as a “40 Under 40” top public relations professional and named a “Rising Star” by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). She previously served as Associate Director of Communications in the George W. Bush White House. Earlier, she spent 12 years in television news including several at WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C., where she received the “Best Newscast” award from the Associated Press.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ms. Spicer is passionate about investing in the future for girls and young women, helping them find their voices, identify professional opportunities and launch promising careers. She has participated in career days, sponsored interns and hosted professional networking events for students. She also serves as a Girl Scout troop leader.
Her college, The University of the South (Sewanee), recognized her contributions by honoring her with the Distinguished Young Alumna Award for “outstanding achievement in her profession, untiring service to her community and repeated loyalty to and support of the university.” She has served as an alumni volunteer since graduation and is a former member of the Board of Trustees.
Additionally, she serves on the Board of the National Council for Adoption and on the Salvation Army’s Capital Region Advisory Council.
