A4A Thanks Senate for Passing 2024 FAA Reauthorization & Extension

A4A greatly appreciates the work of bipartisan lawmakers in the Senate for remaining diligent and committed to securing the passage of the 2024 FAA reauthorization. Critically, the Senate also passed an extension of the current authorization to avoid a lapse in FAA authority until the House can return, ensuring our national airspace can continue to operate safely and efficiently.

We are particularly grateful for the work of Senate Commerce Committee Chair Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Ranking Member Ted Cruz (R-TX), as well as Aviation Subcommittee Chair Tammy Duckworth (D-IL)  and Ranking Member Jerry Moran (R-KS) and the Senate leadership of Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Minority Whip John Thune (R-SD) for working collaboratively to pass this legislation crucial to the success of the U.S. airline industry and our indispensable network that drives our nation’s economy and global competitiveness.

The bill language was thoughtfully crafted by the leaders of the Senate Commerce Committee and House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee after months of negotiations and input from members of Congress and stakeholders alike. We look forward to expeditious consideration in the House to pass the 2024 FAA reauthorization when it returns next week.
