Nicholas E. Calio
President and CEO
 
Nicholas E. Calio is president and chief executive officer of Airlines for America (A4A), the nation’s oldest and largest airline trade association. Mr. Calio became the association’s chief executive in January 2011.
 
Prior to joining A4A, Mr. Calio was Citigroup’s Executive Vice President for Global Government Affairs. He was responsible for the company’s government affairs globally, including U.S. federal government relations, U.S. state government relations and international government relations. He was also a member of Citigroup’s Senior Leadership Committee.
 
Before joining Citigroup, Mr. Calio served President George W. Bush as Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs from January 2001 to January 2003. As the president’s principal liaison to Congress, Mr. Calio worked closely with the leadership and members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, and had the primary responsibility for formulating and implementing White House strategy on all legislative issues. He held the same position during the administration of President George H.W. Bush.  MORE
 
Paul R. Archambeault
Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer
 
Paul Archambeault was named senior vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer of Airlines for America (A4A) in February 2011.
 
In this role, he manages support services; administration, treasury, information technology and business services (e-business, industry audit, high-density airport slot services, publications and the Airlines Clearing House). He also manages the A4A defined-benefit and defined-contribution plans.
 
Mr. Archambeault joined A4A in 1991 as a staff auditor and has held management roles in finance, operations and aviation security. He also served as director of the Aviation Millennium Project, the industrywide initiative to ensure that all airline operations were Y2K compliant. He was named vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer in October 2003.
 
A native of Virginia Beach, Va., Archambeault holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Old Dominion University and a master’s degree in financial management from George Mason University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.

David A. Berg
Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary
 
David Berg was named senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for Airlines for America (A4A) in February 2011, and is responsible for the association’s legal affairs. Mr. Berg has managed complex industry litigation and critical regulatory initiatives involving issues such as revenue diversion and landing fees, government overcharge policies and practices, local domestic-partner benefits laws, passengers with disabilities, exit-row seating, drug and alcohol testing, and duty limits and rest requirements for both flight attendants and pilots.
 
Berg joined A4A in 1985 after three years in private practice. He was named vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary in October 2003, and is active in the aviation legal community. He has served as chairman of the American Bar Association Forum on Air and Space Law and is on the Board of Governors of the International Aviation Club.
 
A native of Washington, D.C., Berg received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland, a Master of Music degree from Northwestern University, and a law degree from Washington College of Law, American University. He also serves on the board of directors of Food and Friends, a D.C.-based nonprofit organization.
 
Christine M. Burgeson
Senior Vice President, Global Government Affairs

In September 2011, Christine Burgeson joined Airlines for America (A4A) as senior vice president, global government affairs. A key member of the A4A leadership team, Ms. Burgeson co-leads government affairs with a focus on increasing the advocacy reach and lobbying capabilities of the organization.

Ms. Burgeson served as Special Assistant to President George W. Bush in the White House Office of Legislative Affairs on issues including budget, appropriations, tax, finance and foreign relations. During her tenure, Ms. Burgeson worked with Congress to establish the Department of Homeland Security and ensure enactment of the President’s 2003 Jobs and Growth tax legislation.

Most recently, she headed her own consulting firm in Washington, CMB Insights LLC. Prior to that, Ms. Burgeson was Managing Director of Federal Government Affairs in the Citi Global Government Affairs office.
 
Christine began her career in Washington in a leadership position for Mississippi Republican U.S. Senator Trent Lott and served as Deputy to the Chief of Staff when Lott became Majority Leader.

Thomas L. Hendricks
Senior Vice President of Safety, Security and Operations
 
Tom Hendricks was named senior vice president of safety, security and operations for Airlines for America (A4A) in February 2011. In this role, he is responsible for technical and operational functions of A4A, developing and shaping A4A member positions on flight operations, safety, engineering, air traffic management, security and airline services.
 
Hendricks joined A4A as vice president, operations and safety in April 2010 after 23 years of airline industry experience as a chief pilot and then director of line operations at Delta Air Lines. A retired Air Force Reserve colonel, he also served as a U.S. Navy officer.
 
A native of Fairfield, Ohio, Hendricks graduated from The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. with a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics with secondary emphasis in business administration.

Sean D. Kennedy
Senior Vice President, Global Government Affairs
 
Sean Kennedy joined Airlines for America (A4A) as senior vice president, global government affairs in July 2011. A key member of the A4A leadership team, Mr. Kennedy co-leads government affairs with a focus on increasing the advocacy reach and lobbying capabilities of the organization.
 
Before joining A4A, Kennedy was Special Assistant to President Barack Obama for Legislative Affairs, working with moderate Democrats and Republicans to form coalitions; serving as the lead White House liaison to the Senate Commerce Committee; and guiding the administration’s executive branch nominees through the confirmation process. Previously, Kennedy served as chief of staff to Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO); as assistant vice president, federal relations with AT&T; and as legislative director for then-House Democratic leader Richard A. Gephardt.
 
Kennedy received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory University and a law degree from the Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America.

Jean Medina
Senior Vice President, Communications
 
Jean Medina was named senior vice president, communications for Airlines for America (A4A) in February 2011, and has more than 20 years of experience in media relations; crisis management; and financial, customer and employee communications.
 
Prior to joining A4A, Ms. Medina served as managing director, external communications at United Airlines, and helped guide communications surrounding the United-Continental Airlines merger. Before working at United Airlines, Ms. Medina managed public relations for Tellabs and Ameritech, worked for a public relations firm and was a reporter for the Daily Herald.
 
A native of Elmhurst, Ill., Ms. Medina received a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and French from Eastern Illinois University.

Sharon L. Pinkerton
Senior Vice President, Legislative and Regulatory Policy
 
Sharon Pinkerton was named senior vice president, legislative and regulatory policy for Airlines for America (A4A) in February 2011, and leads policy development on legislative and regulatory matters, working with Capitol Hill and the administration.
 
Ms. Pinkerton joined A4A as vice president, government affairs in April 2006, where she was responsible for overseeing all aviation-related issues before federal, state and local governments. Before joining A4A, she served as assistant administrator for aviation policy, planning and environment at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Prior to her appointment at FAA, Pinkerton was transportation counsel to House Aviation Subcommittee Chairman John L. Mica (R-Fla.) and served on Capitol Hill for nearly 10 years. She began her professional career at Price Waterhouse.
 
A native of Vero Beach, Fla., Pinkerton received a Bachelor of Science degree from Cedarville College in Ohio, and earned a law degree from the University of Florida. Pinkerton is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Christopher C. Brown
Vice President, Legislative and Regulatory Policy
 
Christopher Brown joined Airlines for America (A4A) as vice president, legislative and regulatory policy in March 2011, with a focus on outreach to key stakeholders to advance policy and legislative issues.
 
Before joining A4A, Mr. Brown was senior counsel of the government and regulatory affairs practice group of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, serving as senior congressional affairs advisor to United Airlines. Brown worked with United on legislative issues pertaining to FAA reauthorization and matters related to the Future of Aviation Advisory Committee. Prior to joining Manatt, Brown spent two years with the FAA as assistant administrator, and deputy assistant administrator for government and industry affairs. From 2005-2007, Brown served as House Majority Counsel to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
 
Brown began his legal career with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, representing American Airlines before Congress and the executive branch. He graduated summa cum laude from Boston College and received his juris doctor from The George Washington University Law School.

James L. Casey
Vice President and Deputy General Counsel
 
Jim Casey is involved in antitrust, industry services, insurance, international and regulatory issues.
Prior to joining A4A, Casey served five years with the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) in several roles, including as an attorney in the office of general counsel, an attorney in the Bureau of Consumer Protection, an assistant to a member of the board, and as executive assistant to the vice chairman.
 
A native of Garden City, N.Y., Casey holds a Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and a law degree from St. John’s University School of Law of Jamaica, N.Y., where he was an editor of the Law Review.
 
Rob DeLucia
Vice President, Labor and Employment, and Assistant General Counsel
 
In January 2012, Rob DeLucia joined Airlines for America (A4A) as Vice President, Labor and Employment, and Assistant General Counsel. His arrival at A4A coincided with the creation of the A4A Labor and Employment Council to strengthen and advance the labor relations and employment interests of A4A member carriers and employees. 
 
Prior to joining A4A, Rob spent 29 years with the Airline Industrial Relations Conference (AIR Conference) in Washington, D.C. AIR Conference was a nonprofit trade association that facilitated the exchange of information among U.S. airlines regarding negotiations, benefits and human resource matters. During his tenure at AIR Conference and A4A, Rob has been actively involved in a number of employment- and aviation-related regulatory matters involving the Department of Labor, the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Mediation Board.
 
Rob began his legal career as an attorney at the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, and then worked in private practice at the firm of Jenkins, Nystrom & Sterlacci. Rob received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Delaware and a law degree from Georgetown University Law School.

 
John P. Heimlich
Vice President and Chief Economist  
 
John Heimlich joined Airlines for America (A4A) in April 2001 and currently serves as vice president and chief economist. Prior to A4A, Heimlich spent five years at United Airlines in financial planning, financial analysis and international and regulatory affairs.
 
Heimlich is Chairman of the Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA) Board of Directors and represents A4A in the MIT Airline Industry Consortium and the Air Transport Research International Forum (ATRIF). Heimlich also serves on the steering committee of the Commercial Aviation Alternative Fuels Initiative (CAAFI) and on the Joint Steering Group of the A4A-Defense Logistics Agency Strategic Alliance for Alternative Aviation Fuels. In 2010 and 2011, Heimlich and colleague Nancy Young were voted among the top 50 people in bioenergy. In December 2010, Heimlich received the Armbrust Aviation Group’s award for “Distinguished Achievement in Aviation.”
 
A native of Kent, Ohio, Heimlich holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Cornell University and a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Steve Lott
Vice President, Communications
 
Steve Lott was named vice president, communications for Airlines for America (A4A) in April 2011, and is responsible for the association’s external communications work, including media relations.
 
Before joining A4A, Lott was the head of communications in North America for the International Air Transport Association (IATA). He was the chief spokesman for the global trade group in the region and handled member relations.
 
Before joining IATA, Steve worked for more than a decade as a Washington-based journalist and editor for Aviation Daily and Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine, both major trade publications for the industry. He managed writers across four continents and helped lead the largest redesign and restructuring of the publication in its 60-year history.
 
A native of Simsbury, Conn., Lott graduated from The American University in Washington, D.C. with Bachelor of Science degrees in business administration and marketing. He currently serves on the board of the International Aviation Club of Washington, D.C.

Vice President, Global Government Affairs
 
With extensive policy, legislative and management experience, Shelley Rubino joined A4A as vice president, global government affairs in April 2012. Before joining A4A, Ms. Rubino spent four years on Capitol Hill, where she served as chief of staff to Rep. John Larson (D-CT), chairman of the Democratic Caucus and as a liaison between Rep. Larson and House Leadership, Members of Congress and the administration. Previously, Rubino served as Director of Government Law and Strategies at Brown, Rudnick, Berlack, Israels, LLP of Hartford, Conn. She also served as a top aide to Connecticut House Speaker Thomas Ritter.
 
Rubino received her bachelor’s degree in communications from Eastern Connecticut University. She has served as Vice Chairman of the Connecticut Judicial Selection Commission and on the Board of the Connecticut Riverfront Recapture and is involved in numerous civic and charitable organizations.
 

 
Nancy N. Young
Vice President, Environmental Affairs
 
Nancy Young joined the Airlines for America (A4A) as vice president, environmental affairs in July 2007 and leads the association’s expanding environmental activities. Ms. Young first joined A4A in 2000, managing international environmental programs as assistant general counsel. She became an A4A officer in 2004, serving as associate general counsel, environment and international programs. Young has broad experience in environmental law and litigation, joining A4A from the prominent law firm of Beveridge & Diamond, P.C. as shareholder/partner.
 
Among other things, she has served for several years on key working groups of the International Civil Aviation Organization’s environmental committee and recently as co-chair of Beveridge & Diamond’s climate change practice.
 
A native of Kansas City, Mo., she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from The College of William & Mary in 1986 and a juris doctor degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1990.
